چکیده

Abstract Background For a long time, surgical difficulty is mainly evaluated based on subjective perception rather than objective indexes. Moreover, the lack of systematic research regarding evaluation potentially has negative effect in this field. This study was aimed to evaluate risk factors for anterior cervical spine surgery (ACSS). Methods retrospective cohort totaling 291 consecutive patients underwent ACSS from 2012.3 2017.8. The defined by operation time longer 120 min or intraoperative blood loss equal greater 200 ml. Evaluation performed analyzing patient’s medical records and radiological parameters such as age, sex, BMI, number levels, high signal intensity spinal cord T2-weighted images, ossified posterior longitudinal ligament (OPLL), sagittal coronal circumference, length, canal occupational ratio, coagulation function index platelet count. Results Significant differences were reported between low-difficulty high-difficulty groups terms age ( p = 0.017), sex 0.006), levels < 0.001), OPLL 0.001) ratio 0.001). Multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that (OR 5.224, 95%CI 2.125–12.843, 4.994, 1.636–15.245, 0.005), 6.358, 1.932–20.931, 0.002) > 0.45 3.988, 1.343–11.840, 0.013) independently associated with ACSS. A nomogram established ROC curve gave 0.906 C-index. There good calibration estimation. Conclusion indicated operational level, OPLL, cord, predictive can be using identified factors. Optimal performance achieved predicting preoperative

Gelfoam-induced Swallowing Difficulty after Anterior Cervical Spine Surgery

Symptomatic diffuse idiopathic skeletal hyperostosis (DISH) is not common. Gelfoam is one of the most commonly used topical hemostatic agents. But, in the partially moistened state, air retained in its pores may result in excessive expansion on contact with liquid. The onset of swallowing difficulty after anterior cervical spine surgery due to appling gelfoam is a rare complication. A 77-year-o...

investigating the feasibility of a proposed model for geometric design of deployable arch structures

deployable scissor type structures are composed of the so-called scissor-like elements (sles), which are connected to each other at an intermediate point through a pivotal connection and allow them to be folded into a compact bundle for storage or transport. several sles are connected to each other in order to form units with regular polygonal plan views. the sides and radii of the polygons are...

Dysphagia Due to Anterior Cervical Spine Osteophyte: A Case Report

Introduction: Degenerative changes of the cervical spine are more common in elderly, but anterior cervical osteophytes that cause problems in swallowing are rare. The most common cause of this problem is DISH disease (diffuse idiopathic skeletal hyperostosis). Trauma is also suggested as a potential cause in osteophyte formation. Case Report: We report a rare case of anterior cervical osteop...

Anterior Cervical Spine Surgery for Degenerative Disease: A Review

Anterior cervical spine surgery is an established surgical intervention for cervical degenerative disease and high success rate with excellent long-term outcomes have been reported. However, indications of surgical procedures for certain conditions are still controversial and severe complications to cause neurological dysfunction or deaths may occur. This review is focused mainly on five widely...
